Curriculum
At St. Josephs it is our intention that all students at Senior Cycle are given every help and support to achieve their academic potential. High academic standards are set and striven for at all times.
The Senior Cycle begins in Fifth Year with core subjects – English, Irish and Maths and a number of choices from set options. Every student is accommodated within the following options:
French, German, Economics, Accounting, Art, Music, Biology, Chemistry, History, Geography, Business, Home Economics, Physics, Technical Graphics
As part of our desire to achieve high standards for our students, we provide tutorial classes in which students can opt for extra classes in subjects they wish to improve in.
Senior students continue to participate in all aspects of school life, Music, Arts, and Sports etc.
They are also encouraged to avail of a number of student’s enrichment facilities for example – The Gaisce Awards, The Copernicus Project, and EU sponsored project under the Youth for Europe Programme. It involves educational visits, contact between Irish and European students and travel. Other enrichment facilities include a Career information Service, School Retreats, the services of School Chaplain and Youth Counsellor as well as Drug and Alcohol Awareness Programmes.
Career guidance and Study workshops are provided for all Leaving Cert Students including information regarding subjects, colleges, grants and career paths.
We are proud of the great success of our students.
