About Us


A code of behaviour sanctioned by the Department of Education applies within this school. All students must abide by this code.
The full Code of Discipline can be found in the Policy on Discipline including Disciplinary Procedures and Sanctions. This Code has been approved by Parents, Students, Staff and Board of Management.
The main points of the Code of Discipline are as follows:-
Attendance
Regular and punctual attendance is expected of all students. A written explanation by parent/guardian must be submitted on the morning after absence from school. This note to be written only in school journal.
Student Behaviour
Respect is the basis of good behaviour – respect for oneself, respect for other students, respect for teachers.
Disrespect for teachers, students or any staff member is not tolerated in this school.
Student behaviour should be of the highest standard at all times in the classroom, on the corridors, in the school grounds and on the school buses.
Students may not leave school grounds at any time during the day without a written request by a parent/guardian stating full acceptance of responsibility for the student in question.
School Uniform
The details of the School Uniform are listed on the School Prospectus.
The School Uniform in perfect order must be worn at all times in the classroom, on corridors, in the school grounds and on school buses.
Platform or high-heeled shoes are NOT ALLOWED for Health & Safety reasons.
Runners are worn ONLY for P.E. classes and are strictly forbidden in school.
The wearing of inappropriate jewellery is prohibited. See Policy on Discipline.
Hairstyles are expected to conform with what is considered appropriate for a student. All students are expected to present themselves in a clean and tidy manner, see the Policy on Discipline.
P.E. Uniform must be worn for P.E. classes. See Policy on Discipline.
Students are requested to have each article very carefully marked. The school will not and cannot assume responsibility for missing property. See Policy on Discipline.
Damage to School Property
A student who causes damage to school property or the property of any person within the school or is party to such will be held responsible for making good the loss incurred.
Personal Property of Students
The school will not and cannot be held responsible for the safety of student’s personal property. It is the responsibility of students to ensure that their property is clearly marked and kept safely in their lockers or on their person.
Banned Substances
In keeping with national legislation all substance abuse is banned in this school. Cigarettes, drugs, alcohol and aerosols are banned in the school, within the school grounds, on school buses or at school-related activities at all times. See our Substance Abuse Policy for details.
Mobile Phones
Picture phones are totally banned from the school.
These phones can adversely affect the rights and privacy of others and possession of such will result in confiscation. In accordance with the Policy on Discipline, the student who is in possession of a picture phone will be suspended from school and the parent is expected to reclaim the phone .
Mobile phones may only be used by pupils during the mid-morning and lunchtime breaks as well as before and after school.
Mobile phones must be kept in lockers during class time and evening study time. During class time and evening study mobile phones may not be switched on and may not be used either to make or to received calls or send/receive text messages.
Should a mobile phone ring during a class period, during evening study or at times other than those specified, a teacher shall confiscate the relevant phone and hand it in to the office. The pupil’s parent/guardian will be expected to call and collect it. See Policy on Discipline.
In the event of illness, a student may need to ring home. She should use the school office phone for this purpose.
