TY School Musical 2011 Cinderella

The Annual School Musical is a major highlight of the year, especially for Transition Year students. In recent years our transition year students have joined with the boys in St Aloysius to bring a succession of great shows to the stage.
The staging of the muscal is a very popular and hugely beneficial element of the TY Programme.

This year Summerhill girls and St. Aloysius boys staged 'Cinderella'. This new production of the ever popular fairytale thoroughly entertained audiences of all ages, in St Joseph's School Hall, from Wednesday 2nd to Friday 3rd of February. Full houses enjoyed the evening shows, despite the wind and rain. In addition, two matinees were staged for the local primary schools and a third for students of Summerhill and St. Aloysius.

The huge cast of 75 Transition Year students from St Joseph's and St Aloysius began rehearsing in the first term, aiming for a pre-Christmas performance. Unfortunately the show had to be postponed in December due to the severe weather conditions. Great credit is due to the students and producer Sandra Julian for their enthusiasm in getting back to rehearsals again in January.

The production features lead roles as follows: Cherise O'Moore as Cinderella, Gavin Madden as The Prince, Ian Malone as Ugly Drizella, Helen Connor as Anastasia, Judy Dowling as Fairy Godmother, Hannah Dowling as The Grand Duke, Aishling Mc Cormack as Stepmother, Pearce-Harney Nolan as The King, Stephen Flynn as The Baron, Katie Nagle as The Herald, Michael Daly, Caolan Flynn, Gemma Nicholson and Laoise Beirne as The Mice with Kate Lemass and Claire Leonard as The Narrators.
