Leaving Cert Vocational Programme (LCVP)
The Leaving Cert Vocational Programme offered by the Department of Education began in the school in September 1995. Since then it has gone from strength to strength. This course emphasises the world of work and through work experience students learn valuable skills, which will be useful to them in their future.
A careers event, organised by LCVP students is one of the highlights of the year. Students study six Leaving Cert Subjects and their seventh subject is a links module which has three components (1) Enterprise Education (2) Work Experience (3) My own Place. The exam is worth 40% of the total and a portfolio of work is worth 60%. 70 points are awarded for a Distinction, 50 for a Merit and 30 for a Pass. These points are acceptable in all Third Level Colleges.
Leaving Cert Applied (LCA)
The Leaving Cert Applied is a two year Senior Cycle Programme that was introduced for our students in September 1999. It emphasises vocational preparation and the development of personal and practical skills. It offers a wide variety of courses, English, Maths, Languages, Computers, Drama, Hotel Catering and Tourism, Childcare and Work Experience. This programme is an excellent preparation of adult life, for further education, training and the world of work. Over the years our students have achieved excellent results and many have gone on to P.L.C. courses and Third Level Colleges.
