As part of our philosophy of encouraging academic excellence for all, we provide a number of extra tuition classes where needed. This continues throughout the Junior & Senior cycles.

In our concern to provide a well-balanced education for our students, a number of student enrichment services have been developed in the school. First Years are involved with:

Debating and Public Speaking,

School Retreats

On occasions, we will welcome Poets, Writers, Drama Groups, Environmental Experts, Entertainers, Musicians, Social Awareness Groups, Counsellors, Study Skills coaches, Sports Coaches and Guest Speakers to the school, to enhance the learning experiences of the pupils.

Extra- Curricular activities:
Students up to Junior Cert are encouraged to participate in a number of extra curricular activities. St Joseph's Summerhill provides a wide range of artistic, social and cultural activities which helps develop the talents of the pupils. This provides them with the ability and confidence to be involved in various activities in later life. These activities also encourage the physical and social development of the students. They include Sports such as, Basketball, Gaelic Football, Soccer, Badminton, Swimming, Camogie, Horse Riding. Other cultural activities include Essay, Poetry and Art Competitions, Debating, Public Speaking, Drama, Music.

We encourage a sense of social responsibility in all our students by involvement in Local and National Charities and Environmental Awareness Activities.
