The School Garden Project
Students from TY and LCA have been busy with a new project in recent months-restoring and cultivating the convent garden. They began with the grotto which they transformed into a 'blue lake' for Spring with an array of bulbs.
Then the harder work started as they did the digging and planting to create a vegetable garden, growing potatoes, onions, beets, spinach, pumpkins, strawberries to name but some. We look forward to the harvest later in the year. Well done to the girls and their efforts, under the guidance of Ms Lyons.
The Young Environmentalists
Our TY Young environmentalists made a great impression when they went to the mansion house recently to take part in the Young Environmentalist Awards. They presented a number of projects and one group perfomed a song urging all of us to be more environmentally aware. Keep it up girls and Ms. Geraghty. More

Camels and Cows from Summerhill to Kosovo
As part of the religious education programme at St. Josephs College Summerhill, TY students participated in their annual fundraising for Bothar. Throughout the year students, together with the help of our teacher Ms Susanne Lally, raised money through bun sales, coffee mornings and 'guess how many sweets are in the jar' events. Altogether we successfully raised €848.45. This money raised by the students bought 2 camels and heifer for a disadvantaged family in Kosovo. As a result TY classes were invited to a special Bothar reception in Roscrea mart last week to mark the airlifting of the animals to Kosovo.
The students' generosity was commended by the Bothar team. Well-done girls!!
Senior Soccer Squad in Connacht Final
Congrats to the under 18 soccer team who put in a brave performance in the Connacht final at Athlone Town stadium, on March 3rd. Summerhill played their hearts out, but in the dreadful conditions, Mercy College, Roscommon, managed to edge it by just 1-0.
Well done to the girls and coach Mr Gallagher. Ye did us proud!!
There was a wonderful turnout of supporters who cheered on their team 100% despite the unseasonal day.
